Faith Associates Launch First Mosque Wildcats Centres in the UK
Faith Associates in partnership with the Football Association have been working with Mosques within our network to develop the first Mosque wildcat centres in the UK focusing on providing access for girls in communities to play football. We are excited to announce the below Mosques are the first Mosque Wildcats Centres in the UK, working with Faith Associates, the Football Association (FA) and the English Football League (EFL):Â
- Burnley Islamic Centre
- Guidance Hub
- Masjid Al-Falaah
- Masjid Umar
- Wembley Central Mosque
Following on from the recent successes of England’s national teams, we are aiming to provide new and exciting opportunities, especially for girls and women, across the UK, working with our extensive networks of faith institutions and communities to make football accessible via our work with the Football Association.
We are excited to launch our first FA Wildcats centres across 5 cities in the UK for girls aged 5-11, providing them with easy access to football at all times. WildCats is non-competitive programme for girls who want to experience football for the very first time or want to play with other girls their own age.
Alongside taking recreational football programmes to faith institutions & communities in the UK, we aim to, through the Football Association, provide coaching opportunities through the Playmaker course. This project is also being supported by the English Football League (EFL), who are supporting with the initial coaching of the sessions.
Encouraging and taking recreational football programmes to Faith Institutions & communities across the UK fits with Faith Associates’ Sport and faith vision developing and improving the standards of Institutions. Faith Institutions should be involved in providing and supporting sporting services such as football programmes that improves their quality and variety of service to the community.
To help deliver the football, as a Wildcats Centre, the Mosques will receive from Faith Associates and The FA:
- £600 funding over TWO years
- Kit and equipment
- Coach Training & Support Workshops
- Wildcats Coach Mentor visits to help support your coaches
- Access to Wildcats Festivals
- Promotional assets
- Coaching support from EFL club
The below football clubs and foundations are supporting the Faith Associates Wildcats project. The clubs are providing support in overseeing the coaching of the sessions and providing the equipment to the Mosques. The support from the clubs in partnership with the English Football League (EFL) has been important in providing quality football delivery for the girls. The volunteer lead at the Mosque is shadowing the coaches from the clubs, so they can eventually take on the delivery at the institution when ready.
