Safer Giving and Collecting within the Mosque is extremely important as Mosques are a hub of activity.
One of the most important utilisations of the Mosque is fundraising. The Muslims community contributes to a very large amount of donations to charitable causes, particularly in the month of Ramadan. Within this context, Faith Associates has worked together with Mosques and Charity personnel to produce a ‘Safer Collecting and Safer Giving’ guide to be distributed amongst Mosque management in the UK.
The Safer Giving infographic outlines an easy-to-follow 10 step approach for Mosques to ensure there are no discrepancies or issues with individuals or organisations that seek to collect money within the Mosque. The Safer Giving infographic looks at ensuring applicants fills out a comprehensive form outlining their reasons for collecting and to provide credible references. By following these steps, the Mosque safeguards itself from individuals or organisations collecting under false pretences.
In addition to third party collection, the infographic outlines steps for the Mosque itself to follow when it is the recipient of donations. It outlines the need to be transparent in both the collection and spending of funds as well as ensuring safeguards are in place to prevent fraud or ‘misplaced’ funds.

Faith Associates has worked in the Mosque arena for over 15 years. As a team we understand that one of the most important utilisation’s of the Mosque is fundraising. The Muslims community contributes to a very large amount of donations to charitable causes, particularly in the month of Ramadan. In partnership with Mosques we developed the ‘Safer Collecting and Giving’ info-graphic in the lead up to Ramadan where fundraising increases.
After consulting Mosques and using our expertise in the Mosque arena, we created the ‘Safer collecting and giving’ info-graphic that highlights in detail the steps Mosque management should take to ensure they know who is fundraising in the Mosque and also the steps they should take to inform the congregation where the money is going.
We distributed the info-graphic across the UK to 100’s of Mosques and Madrassahs. We received positive feedback on the info-graphic from the community and is used regularly by Mosques, especially during Ramadan.
