Launch of the Child Protection and Adult Safeguarding Guide for Faith Based Establishments
Faith Associates has launched ‘The Child Protection and Adult Safeguarding Guide for Faith Based Establishments’. This guide has been developed to help faith institutions with advice and guidance in relation to their safeguarding arrangements. With issues arising in the UK surrounding Child Protection, there is a great need for full guidance and protection to be implemented for both the children within a faith establishment and the adults working there. Great care has been taken in the production of this guide, with attention paid to recent developments in statutory and safeguarding legislation, and created to give a structured approach to safeguarding.
This comprehensive guide takes you through a six step process that will provide the necessary information, procedures and advice to ensure the establishment of a safe environment. This includes a self-assessment (to get an idea of where your faith establishment stands), how to identify different kinds of abuse, and all of the planning and preparation required to create a safe environment. It also provides awareness for the importance of E-Safety, an area which has become increasingly critical in recent years.
The launch event comprised of presentations, workshops and discussions with key council leads and the authors of the guide. It also showcased a marketplace of suppliers willing to support faith institutions in the development of its safeguarding output and provided the invitees an opportunity to network with leaders from a variety of faith groups representing different faith institutions.
The guide has been researched, reviewed and developed in partnership with six West Midland Local Authorities and the Birmingham City Council LADO Service.
