Faith associates set to host ‘Places of Worship Security Funding Scheme – Home Office London Briefing Session’ in partnership with MOPAC

Sharing is caring!

Mosques and Muslim faith schools have been given access to £24.5 million for security measures to protect their places of worship and schools as per an announcement from the UK Home Office.

Muslims continue to experience an increased threat of hate crime. In 2020/2021, 45% of religious hate crimes recorded by the police in England and Wales were targeted against Muslims.

In light of this, the Home Office has released the new Protective Security Funding Scheme 2022 (Home Office Funding for places of worship and associated faith community centres that are vulnerable to hate crime). Places of worship can now bid for funding to put in place security measures to help tackle the threats of attacks and hate crimes. The Home Office will cover 100% of the cost of the work. Entries close on 14th July, 2022.

In order to support local faith communities and to give them the best possible chance of successfully obtaining funding for physical security measures for their place of worship, Faith Associates, a long term proponent for protective security for places of worship, are hosting Home Office officials at an in-person event, in partnership with MOPAC, to provide advice and guidance on applying for these grants.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, 14 June 2022, 18:30 – 21:30 (BST) and will take place in The Law Society Hall in London (WC2A 1PL). Please Register at: https://tinyurl.com/POWGRANT. We encourage all Mosque Leaders, Madrassah Leaders, Muslim Schools’ Leaders & Governors to attend.

In this UK Home Office Briefing, there will be a detailed look at the criteria for applications, the timeline and the processes involved. Attendees will also get the chance to have any questions and concerns answered by Home Office officials present at the event.

Faith Associates has a long-standing relationship with the Mayor of London and MOPAC office, having delivered a wide range of events in partnership covering Mosque Security, Mosque development, Covid-19 and Mosque Management programs. Faith Associates has also worked with the UK Home Office on Mosque protective security following the Christchurch, New Zealand attacks in 2019 where it was commissioned to conduct a national roadshow on raising awareness around security for places of worship, particularly for Mosques.

Please share this article with relevant colleagues and friends. Faith Associates look forward to welcoming you at the event, delivered in partnership with MOPAC and the Home Office.
