Faith Associates CEO provides evidence at the IICSA

Sharing is caring!

Faith Associates CEO, Shaukat Warriach in May 2020 presented evidence at the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA)

The IICSA is chaired by Professor Alexis Jay OBE, and was set up because of serious concerns that some organisations had failed and were continuing to fail to protect children from sexual abuse.

Shaukat Warraich, when presenting evidence and responding to testimonies, highlighted through the national work of Faith Associates, that many have raised safeguarding concerns, He said; “There are vulnerabilities around child safeguarding’ within mosques and that ‘people in their forties and fifties’ who ‘went through the system… have spoke to us to talk about what happened to them”.

Shaukat Warraich said he was confident that as the work of the IICSA became well-known, more cases of historic cases of child sex abuse will emerge.

There were other organisations presenting evidence to the IICA which include; MINAB, MCB & Muslim Womens Network.
