Faith Associates are supporting ECB’s Cricket Tea-A-Thon Initiative
Following Faith Associates’ work through our Beacon Mosque project, in which we have showcasing the brilliant services being provided by Mosques and community centres across the UK providing necessary services for the communities; food banks, medical support, elderly care etc.. we are proud to be supporting the ECB’s Cricket Tea-A-Thon initiative this week.
The ECB are supporting leading UK food poverty charity, the Trussell Trust, to provide an off the shelf solution for cricket clubs and community groups to provide additional supplies to their local foodbanks.
What is a Cricket Tea-A-Thon?
This initiative encourages cricket clubs and community groups across England and Wales to register and become food collection points, donating goods to their local Trussell Trust foodbank.
Donating items that people would have used to make the weekly cricket teas, including tea, coffee, biscuits and fruit juice as well as items such cereal, toiletries and baby supplies will support some of the most vulnerable families in our local communities.
The ECB will be hosting a virtual cricket tea event at ‘tea’ on day two of the second Test against the West Indies this Friday 17th July 2020.
How Mosques and & Faith Communities Can Help
Having set up the Beacon Mosque Mobilisation database during the month of Ramadan for Mosques to register their services for the local community, we are encouraging Mosques and faith communities across the UK to become food collection points, donating good to their local Trussell Trust Fund foodbank.
Trussell Trust Find a Food Bank
On Friday 17 July, encourage your local community to share pictures and videos of their cricket ‘tea’ using #CricketTea on social media.
