Faith Associates held three training courses for Madrassah staff and leaders during October to develop their skills and increase their knowledge of recent changes to regulations. These trainings also count towards teachers’ Continuing Professional Development (CPD), building on their experience and allowing them to learn and share best practice.
The training courses took place within the London Borough of Brent where Faith Associates is working with Brent Council to help implement the Department for Education’s ‘Code of Practice for Out-of-School Settings’ within Madrassahs. Participating Madrassahs will undertake a holistic review of their organisation under the Madrassah Quality Standards (MQS) Framework, which assesses faith-based institutions across eight categories and allows them, with the support of the Faith Associates team, to develop their policies and procedures and operate at a good standard which also meets the requirements of the ‘Code of Practice for Out-of-School Settings’.
The trainings that took place in October covered Safeguarding & Child Protection, Emergency First Aid and Special Educational Needs & Disabilities. So far, around 50 staff members and leaders have been trained and received certificates.
The training programme will continue on Saturday 2 November with a ‘Madrassah Management’ course which is aimed at Madrassah leaders and addresses the ‘Code of Practice for Out-of-School Settings’ directly.
