The situation is Mosul is a disaster.
A blunt opening to what is a humanitarian crisis ignored by the World.
The people of Mosul who have known nothing but war for a substantial period of time have been caught in a war which leaves them fighting for their lives and struggling for shelter, food and electricity.
A Muslim chaplain from Liverpool called Adam Kelwick, on behalf of Human Relief Foundation has made an emergency trip Iraq to help give aid to the people fleeing the war in Mosul.
Keeping his 13’000 followers on Facebook & Snapchat updated regularly, Imam Adam Kelwick’s first post on his trip was one of realization:
Below is a 30 minute update summarizing the horrible situation facing the people of Mosul and the need to create awareness about the humanitarian crisis that seems to going unnoticed.
The reality on the ground from Imam Adam are truly shocking; Mosul has a population of 1.5 million people (more than the city of Birmingham) who are caught up in the war. There are over 160’00 people who have been displaced from Mosul and have now left the city and set up camps outside of Mosul.
Imam Adam and the team at Human Relief Foundation will be focusing on two of these camps where the people who have been displaced are now living. They will be providing them with blankets, water, food and other aid that has been donated. The two camps Imam Adam will be visiting contains over 70’000 people combined.
