On 3rd January 2016, Faith Associates CEO Shaukat Warraich was invited to deliver a talk to Scholars, Imams and Mosque Leaders about the Government’s call for evidence over out of school education settings which is set to have a direct impact on Mosques and Madrassahs. This consultation meeting was held at the Hayes Muslim Centre and facilitated by the West London Islamic Fourm.
With the Department for Education having set their deadline to their consultation period calling for evidence on out of school education settings to the 11th January 2016, the West London Islamic Form decided to hold an independent event open to all Mosques and Madrassahs in order to better understand the implications of the proposed legislation, provide input to the consultation period and formulate a response on behalf of the community.
Shaukat Warraich spoke about the need to improve the governance and output of the Madrassah by focussing on the need to improve quality standards. Shaukat introduced the Madrassah Quality Standards Framework (MQSF) which is part of ‘Madrassah.co.uk’ – a new dedicated hub for the Islamic education sector that provides advice, training and accreditation.
The MQSF is specifically designed for the Islamic education sector and brings together legal requirements and good Madrassah practices that will enable Mosques, Madrassahs and Supplementary Schools to meet standards for: Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Effective teaching and learning and Organizational governance.
