Safer Giving in the Mosques
Safer Giving and Collecting within the Mosque is extremely important as Mosques are a hub of activity.
One of the most important utilisations of the Mosque is fundraising. The Muslims community contributes to a very large amount of donations to charitable causes, particularly in the month of Ramadan. Within this context, Faith Associates has worked together with Mosques and Charity personnel to produce a ‘Safer Collecting and Safer Giving’ guide to be distributed amongst Mosque management in the UK.
The Safer Giving infographic outlines an easy-to-follow 10 step approach for Mosques to ensure there are no discrepancies or issues with individuals or organisations that seek to collect money within the Mosque. The Safer Giving infographic looks at ensuring applicants fills out a comprehensive form outlining their reasons for collecting and to provide credible references. By following these steps, the Mosque safeguards itself from individuals or organisations collecting under false pretences.
In addition to third party collection, the infographic outlines steps for the Mosque itself to follow when it is the recipient of donations. It outlines the need to be transparent in both the collection and spending of funds as well as ensuring safeguards are in place to prevent fraud or ‘misplaced’ funds.
