“It is imperative that the moderate majority is empowered to stand firm against the forces of extremism. But, this can only be achieved through strong leadership.” (Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon)
World Interfaith Harmony Week is an annual event that is observed during the first week of February. This year marks the fifth year of the event. The World Interfaith Harmony Week is best summarised by the saying, ‘Love of the Good, and Love of the Neighbour’. This formula includes all people of goodwill. It includes those of other faiths, and those with no faith.
World Interfaith Harmony Week 2015 holds a particularly significant importance following the Paris attacks earlier this year. The attacks serve as a stark reminder of the importance of interfaith cooperation. How are all of us, with our differing viewpoints and deep disagreements, to share a world together? An important task of an interfaith groups is to help build relationships between people with profoundly different views on fundamental theological and political matters. How else do you have a diverse democracy, unless people have deep disagreements on some issues are able to work together on other issues?
There is a great need for increased dialogue among different faiths and religions to enhance mutual understanding, harmony and cooperation among people. Faith Associates understands the importance of responding to tragic events such as those in Paris with strong leadership as seen with CEO Shaukat Warraich’s visit to the French capital this week. Faith Associates works had in facilitating messages of interfaith harmony and goodwill through faith institutions and prides itself on the ability to provide strategic solutions to such problems.
